Ready for the next big earthquake?
UC Berkeley’s proximity to two active faults (each due for large seismic activity) means it’s important for us to be ready for shaking at any moment. Each year millions of people participate in The Great ShakeOut, practicing what to do when you hear an earthquake early warning alert or feel shaking: Drop, Cover, and Hold On.
10:15 am on October 15
Drop (or Lock), Cover, and Hold On

Make an emergency kit or go bag. If you already have one, double-check to make sure nothing has expired!

Download the MyShake early warning app! MyShake users will be sent a test drill at 10:15 AM on October 15. Audio and visuals will be slightly different than real alerts. More info on the test alert.
-
Practice when you get the test alert! You'll build muscle memory by remembering to Drop, Cover, and Hold On.
